We like a lot of the same bands but it seems like we'd never pick the same songs. I think Jordan the Comeback is a great album but I really hate "Doo Wop in Harlem"

I think they're a really good band though. A little odd to me to see an american refer to the "Two Wheels Good" album as "Steve McQueen" Do you have the import version? I'm assuming its not any different other than the title. I saw today that they supposedly have a new album coming out in Feb.

Rainy Sunday Music.
Innocence Mission is one of the few acts I think consistently make exquisite gentle songs without succumbing to whiny self-absorption.
They're about vignette captured timeless, texture and precise lyrical moment instead of folk yittering.
And Karen Peris has THAT VOICE, the way Harriet Wheeler, Margot Timmins, Hope Sandoval or David Sylvian have THAT VOICE.

Dalen and Polly, if you aren't already familiar, you might like this.

That's pretty much the best picture of Karen I've ever seen. Good choice of songs too....though my selections from Birds of My Neighborhood would've likely been different.

It's unfortunate that the height of their commercial exposure seems to be when they were being played as background music in the movie, Empire Records, during that scene when the depressed bald girl is sitting on the shitter.

It's even more unfortunate that I know the movie well enough to remember that happening.

"I Remember Me" and "Black Sheep Wall" got notice early in their career but The Sundays broke the following year and many people started saying Peris was a Wheeler sound alike (instead of a peer whose debut album came out first).

Also, people thought "Bright As Yellow" was a Mazzy Star song.

But it doesn't seem like either Peris was much interested in the promotional dedication it takes to stay celebrities.
