oh, got a job...don't get the congrats out yet, its just part time, yet they still want to test me...I've managed to hold off but I've had to work out a bunch and sweat it out...

luckily the hiring guy went on vacation for two weeks after the offer so I've had time to clean out the system, but at the same time, I've had to avoid a bunch of friends, I'm definitely holding out on seeing a movie or two, and haven't been able to celebrate my first booked shows in years with my bands.

OK, real reason for this thread. I smoked weed for the first time, last year, when I was 41. I really liked the "during", but he next day was sort of a bummer. Since then, I've probably smoked about ten times total, over the space of a year. Each time it's the same. I've put it down because the next day hangover is miserable. So, Cotton, what am I doing wrong?

you're drinking along with it...weed does NOT GIVE YOU HANGOVERS...that's another reason why its great.

I missed this thread.

1. There is no choice in this survey that matches my experience.
2. Some of my best friends smoke very strong weed on a daily basis and are able to hold intelligent and interesting conversations.
3. There is a weed hangover. Senses dulled, groggy thought processes, distributed affect, slight aphasia.
4. Alcohol makes people much less cognitively interesting than dope. Seeing people get drunk is like watching a watercolor get wet and melt down. Get messy.
5. Addiction, not dope per se, creates dumb darknesses and dishonesty, to self and your world.

For me, having gone through the menu thoroughly, it is much more interesting to try life on life's terms. I don't miss dope at all.... I do regret that I have lost the privilege to check in with the mind-altering stuff.

And of course it should be legalized.

well, I don't know if you're doing anything wrong, but there is a slight hangover feeling. You might get a sore throat or maybe some of the effects that Harry described especially if you're not a regular smoker. There's a number of ways to reduce this -drinking more water, vitamins, etc...; but the best way is using a cleaner apparatus (i.e. water pipe or vaporizer), though it's still gonna happen to some degree. I just partook the other night for the first time in about 6 months and my throat felt ragged the next morning.

I just don't understand the effects described by the majority of the board. I prefer the effects to those of alcohol by a long shot, and I think it's a lot less harmful to people. It makes almost everything better (chiefly road trips, bad/Bay movies, sex, food, hiking, 72% of music, and laughing). The biggest problem with pot is that a lot of the subculture is unbearable. As someone who has smoked pot regularly for over half his life, I hate fucking potheads. As soon as it becomes a common topic of conversation or you can't do anything without getting high first, you are doing it wrong.

As far as growing it, it's a very easy hobby if you're not living in danger of the thing being discovered. I once grew a giant plant as a joke. It was like 3 feet tall in my kitchen window, and then I went on vacation, leaving it with some friends who put it into the ground. It paid off in a very, very large way though I was gone for most of it.

Nah, mine is more like a "can't get up", "got the shakes bad" kinda hangover. I don't get this at all with alcohol. I can drink a quart of Monkey and still stand still. Add one or two puffs, and I'm down for the count. Add, four or more puffs and I'm paralyzed. Also a bit of paranoia that induces my panic attacks on the next day with the latter. But the "during" is soooo good. Especially with some Willie.
