he's new to me (I do actually live in a cave y'know) and am digging his stuff to bits and looking
forward to seeing him play The Union Chapel here in UK soon, this is his new album with Desertshore

I just downloaded that. I'm looking forward to listening to it soon.

I liked his previous album from this year with Jimmy LaValle.

I did not, however, like the last Sun Kil Moon album. It's one of the few things he's put out that I can't really get into.

I love just about everything Kozelek does, in whatever form that may take, though some efforts are much more uneven than others.

He''ll never top Ghosts of the Great Highway, but that is so close to perfection, that's completely understandable.

If he hasn't "come through" in 20+ years, why are you still paying attention?

Sorry meant to quote FT. Counting RHP, SKM, and solo stuff, I love about 6 or 7 of his two dozens or so releases. Maybe a few more if you count his EPs with the Modest Mouse and AC/DC covers.

The other stuff I find to be on the bland side, but I still kinda tolerate just for his vocals.

I will most likely check out everything he does (although he's been prolific this year and I haven't been keeping up) but I don't anxiously await the release/leaks like I would for other artists.

I'm a fan. Check out Red House Painters and go from there. Agree with FT that he'll likely never top Ghosts of the Great Highway under his Sun Kil Moon moniker. However, I did like April quite a bit, and even thought there were a few strong songs on Among The Leaves.

He has a pretty large discography. Lots out there to check out. I've probably only heard 1/12 of it.

Only on my second listen, but so far I think this new one with Desertshore is great.

They have a mobile option for paying subscribers, if portability is the goal. But no, no downloads.

I could search the torrents I guess...

Kozs' "diss" songs are funny and intentionally dopey, the sarcastic bastard.
"I can pay like Fripp or Johnny Marr, and I can play circles around Jay Farrar. I like Jeff Beck and Page just fine
but I hate Derek Trucks and Nels Cline."

I like when he repeats "Nels Cline" again, coupled with a riff or two sounding just like him. Ugh

Yes, this song ("Livingstone Bramble") is BY FAR the best thing Kozelek has done since GOTGH. Man, does he ever love him some boxing!

#ihatenelscline indeed (I also caught the VERY Cline-esque riff he snuck in there.)
