so far (and it's only 7am!)

Momus - Little Red Songbook

Lesser Birds Of Paradise - String Of Bees (sheesh, people what more do I have to say about this album?! if the RIYL Clem Snide, Pedro The Lion, Iron & Wine isn't enough for ya, then i don't what else to say. Except:

- it's in my top 5 of the year
- it's released by Contraphonic, the same label that has brought you ifihadahifi, among others, including resiusses of stuff by La Pieta, New Radiant Storm Kings and...THE WRENS.

WP: The Strokes 'Room on Fire' I like this so much more now than I did when it came out.

Morrissey 'You Are The Quarry I avoided this album for months and months because I thought it was going to be crap and as a Mozette I don't think I could have take the profound sense of disappointment. Turns out it his best album since 'Vauxhall and I' and I needn't have worried.

The Court & Spark- Witch Season
Cool, twangy and moody music. Nice warm analog sound recorded on fat 2" tape in a bunch of real studios. It does have that same lush alt-country sound as bands like Whiskeytown and Blue Rodeo, but maybe just a tad bit more eclectic. Pretty good singer too, although not all that distinctive. Which kind of describes the music as well. I like it a lot, but it isn't very memorable. The very nice opening track is available for download from the Absolutely Kosher site, although some of that really nice sound that adds to its charm is lost when compressed.
