Has anybody had the privilege of listening to this band's debut album? It's probably one of the most relaxing and calming albums ever.

I wouldn't call SDRE relaxing and calming. Any other RIYLs? Lots of guitars? Do they sound like Cocteau Twins?

They're not exactly like SDRE. They're more serene but they have that similar emo sound.

Hmm. Mellow and serene aren't always the same.

Spokane for instance are so mellow that they're dead, but they're not serene.

Lambchop are not serene.

Leonard Cohen is not serene.

Cocteau Twins are serene.

Air are serene

A Northern Chorus are serene.

Sunny Day Real Estate may be serene to some, not to me.

I don't think I've heard any bonafide "serene" emo before. Seems a contradiction in terms. But then, I actively avoid delving any deeper into the genre than I have to.
