Saw it on the news a couple hrs ago.
Apparently through the baggage check sites they spotted a grenade in someone's bag and they stopped and held the wrong bag and person and accidentally let the right one through.
They then had to shut the airport down and disallow all outgoing flights and keep incoming flights on their planes.
They then tried to evacuate the airport while they tried to find the suspect.
Prettty frigging scary. That's only about 20 minutes away from where I live. yikes.
You're a bit off:
November 16, 2004 — A problem with a screening machine stalled hundreds of passengers and grounded dozens of flights at Midway Airport.
A TSA security screener thought he saw an explosive device in someone's bag. When the worker went to re-screen the bag, it was gone. The apparent breach prompted a two hour shutdown of the gate areas. Authorities eventually found the man and a search of his bags turned up nothing.
Officials acknowledge that a malfunction in the screening machine incorrectly displayed a test image.
Operations are expected to be back to normal at the airport this morning.

ACTUALLY Spencer, I was going by what they were literally SAYING on the news at 9 last night!
So it's obvious that they jumped the gun and found out what really went wrong and the media is backpedaling now.
everything I wrote they were literally reporting word for word on Channel 9 news
