in my experience, the law is there just as a formality, there's no way out of it so the best thing to do is to go limp and hope that they pull out fast, because you're getting fucked one way or another.

If it's your 1st offense, they'll usually let you plead no contest...from my experience. Did they just issue a ticket on the spot or were you hauled in? Is it your only offense?

Go, and ask them if they have video proof of it happening....Or they took a sample from the scene of the crime..

If 2 cops saw it, your f'd anyway. No contest will keep it off your record and I'm guessing all you'll have to do is pay a small fine. Possibly a little community service. Is it a class D misdemeanor?

Phil, I just read where no contest can go on your record as a guilty plea...but in my case it didn't because I was a 1st time offender, which is up to the judge's discretion I think. No contest allows the courts to decide without you having to admit guilt. The obnish lawyers probably could give you better advice than I can. Either way, I'm sure it's a very minor offense that happens all the time in Chicago (which is why they issued a ticket instead of hauling you in).

Call the DAs office and find out who is handling the case, and explain to them that this was all a mistake, and that while you know you messed up, you would like to save the fair city of Chicago time and effort (and Money) by hopefully being able to just pay a fine, and not have to drag the ADA, the cops and the judge into the courtroom that day.

Mention you've lived there for a w few years and haven't had any run-ins with the law, and that you are all contrite and embarassed and would really just like to get the whole thing taken care of as easily and fairly as possible for all sides.

If this doesn't work. Go the Eazy-E route and get "a bitch named Suzi to bust in with the submachine Uzi" while in court.

Walk into court and pee on the judges bench.

Go to court and explain to them that you're musicians. They'll probably let you off scot free AND drive you home in a short bus.

I was arrested for public urination outside an outdoor concert in Wisconsin thirteen years ago. What a joke. There were four porta-potties for the entire parking lot. The expected crowd was 10,000 plus. People were peeing everywhere--it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

My friend and I were thrown in the back of the paddy wagon and hauled down to the station. We had to walk back to the concert, a couple miles away.

I fought the case and got it down to $100 bucks or something after conferring with the city attorney (the original fine was $250, I think). I would have fought it longer, but I had to fly out to D.C. for school and the court dates and proceedings took months.

Still mad (pissed?) at Somerset, Wisconsin.

I feel your pain, fellow public pissers. I was handed a $75 ticket on CHRISTMAS for laying a foamy stream outside a HUM show in downtown Manhattan, KS. Johnny Law even gave me time to squirt every last drop out - seeing as it was Xmas and all. Not as pleased as I thought we was with my work, he layed a ticket & stiff tongue-lashing before I had to drop trousers again & make with the pee. Aaaaahhh, Kansas!

I mailed in the fine several weeks later. Not before wiping my ass with the personal check & ticket. Oops!

4. i've had a bad year with latinos, when those latino kids tried to get me fired/arrested when i was subbing and saying that i beat them in the class... that was fucked up.
