I so want everything in that book to be true.

Everything aside, I'm most shocked and disturbed that the dude made the conscious decision to break up with Sofia Vergara.

I mean, really? Who thinks that's a good idea?

As a side note, I have practiced Transcendental Meditation for about 15 years and lots of people give me hell for it. I will admit that the "ceremony" I had to participate in before I was taught the technique was kinda goofy, but it's nothing like scientology. You learn it and you're out unless you choose differently.

It's only a good idea when she starts talking, and even then, it's highly questionable.

Will Smith has joined the ranks of Hollywood power players actively recruiting for the Church of Scientology.
Big stars traditionally distribute "wrap presents" to crew members after completing a film. His recent gift after wrapping next summer's comedy "Hancock" was a card good for a personality test at your local Scientology center.
Fun!
Never mind that such tests are given free by the church anyway. The quiz is designed to convert people to the religion by identifying personality flaws that - surprise! - Scientology can fix right up for you.
For a fee, of course...

further quoted from the above, for humor:

Quote:
Smith, who is best buddies with Scientology booster Tom Cruise, has never confirmed that he joined the church. But he told "Access Hollywood" last month: "I was introduced to it by Tom, and I'm a student of world religion. I was raised in a Baptist household. I went to a Catholic school, but the ideas of the Bible are 98% the same ideas of Scientology, 98% the same ideas of Hinduism and Buddhism."

Presumably the other 2% is the part about the evil space emperor who put the hydrogen bombs in the volcano.

The number of people who embrace this continues to amaze / horrify me.

The Material Mom has conned both UNICEF USA and Gucci into helping raise money for the Kabbalah Center and Madonna's patron gurus, the Berg Family.

Gucci is throwing an all-star fundraiser on Feb. 6 for Madonna's charity, Raising Malawi. GUCCI's "A Night to Benefit Raising Malawi and UNICEF" will take place in heated tents on the north lawn of the United Nations, with special co-hosts Sarah Jessica Parker and Salma Hayek scheduled to attend along with Madonna.

However, neither Gucci nor UNICEF is aware -- even though it's been noted here many times -- that Raising Malawi is merely a front for Philip Berg's Kabbalah Center of Los Angeles. In fact, before anyone writes a check: Raising Malawi is also still not a registered charity. All of its forms, filings and press releases direct back to the Kabbalah Center...

Well, reportedly you're not introduced to this kind of stuff until you've been in the religion for a long time and invested a lot. And because it's so clearly preposterous (yes, Radcliffe, I know--like all religious claims), they have tried very hard to protect the really kooky stuff as "intellectual property".

I did not realize this.

But.... everyone knows about it, no?

I guess not.

But they'll get you started on L. Ron Hubbard lectures immediately (for a price, of course) - and anyone that can listen to 2 minutes of his gibberish without realizing he's selling nothing but smoke, snake oil, and language misuse is a bigger dolt than any follower of any other religion the world over.

By that logic, the fact that monkeys and humans share 98% of their DNA means that we're actually the same, right? It just goes to show that last 2% is pretty vital.

On another note, saw my first non-celebrity Scientologist the other day, or what I have to assume to be. A guy driving around in Tempe had a big sticker on the back window of his car saying something like "Parents Hide Your Children . . . There are Psychiatrists Around." I really wish I'd written down the url he had on there as well. Oh well, don't need to give them any extra traffic.

I don't trust anyone that hangs out with Chris Tucker and Tom Arnold.
