Easy big fella. Didn't we just see this movie in the New Orleans series? Still, gotta win the first before you can win the second. This should be a great series.

Who'd have thought, Corey Brewer and Jeff Teague, DEEP bench players for the Mavs and Hawks would be so crucial in those Game 1's.

oh, i'm in no way claiming the lakers are done, or really even in serious trouble...YET

just that the mavs are impressing me more than they ever have (except maybe for 2006...until game 3 of the finals)

It's sick that I enjoy more watching the Lakers lose than I do watching the teams I like win.

lakers still ain't quite done just yet, but might be a good idea for their next of kin to do some casket-intensive window shopping

Imagine the one-two punch of the Mavericks eliminating the Lakers, then Cuban buying the Dodgers. (Selig cannot deny Cubes forever.)

I agree...

One team I have conflicted feelings like this about, however, is the Miami Heat.

I LOVE Dwayne Wade, but I still badly want to see them lose. For me, it's a weird feeling watching them play.

Example:

Me (to self): Nice shot, Wade!!!

Me (to my other self): No, the Heat suck!!!

Me (to self): But, but... Dwayne Wade is awesome!!!

Me (to my other self): LeBron must go down hard and shamefully!!!

Me (both selves): SHUT UP and WATCH THE DAMN GAME!!!

It's time to start coming to the realization that the Heat are going to win it all.

But unlike when Garnett finally got his ring with a big three, Lebron will be touted as a chump.

Funny how that is.

Not quite how I recall it. I remember LOTS of criticism of Garnett for leaving Minnesota. Much of it was the same stuff you hear about Lebron, "couldn't do it on their own", "had to go to a big market", etc etc.

Even if the Heat win it this year I just can't see them being a dynasty that goes on to win 3-4 more titles. We've seen how far Lebron can get on his own and Wade has more tread on those knees than most 30 year olds.

I am reaching out to bunch of scientists in hopes of figuring out a way that Miami and Boston can both be eliminated in the round.

I hate to admit it, but I starting thinking the same thing on Tuesday night after they won Game 2. Who's left that can beat them?

Boston? - Stick a fork in 'em
Chicago? - Nah, looks like they were just overachieving in the regular season, and are running out of steam (plus, Rose needs more offensive help)
Atlanta? - Don't think so

L.A.? - If they can come back and beat the Mavs, maybe... (but I would even prefer to see the Heat win over them!)
Dallas? - Uhh, possible... I guess
Oklahoma City? - Uhh, possible... I guess
Memphis? - Uhh, possible... I guess

I think the Heat will roll into the Finals, and it will up to a Western Conference team to stop them. I just hope it's someone other than the Lakers. A Lakers/Heat Finals would just be me cheering for whoever I hate less at the moment (probably the Heat)...

The demise of the Lakers (should it actually happen) comes a very close second for me to that of OBL.

What's funny is that I was thinking of typing something like that in my previous post, but I thought better of it and decided that was a little too far out there to post. Bob obviously thought differently...

FT already lost the Spurs, & now, he has to watch the Mavs romp in the backyard. He deserves his moment.

(Of course, one could argue his "moment" is his new TIG BITTIED dish, so any vitriol over the NBA playoffs is unwarranted, still.)

The huge Lakers fan who works for me's first words to me this AM "Now I'm worried about the Lakers."

I think I made him feel better by telling him (and meaning it) that if there is any team in these here playoffs that could win three on the road if necessary, it's the Lakers.

Bloor, you read Bradley's piece today, "Josh Smith: What is he doing?"

Pretty good read but my fave comment:

"Josh Smith, meet Cliff Levingston. Cliff, meet Josh Smith"

Artest out tonight, it doesn't look good. Lakers absolutely are capable of winning two of three from Mavs on the road and two at home. But not if they lose tonight. It isn't just that they lost two at home, but how they lost. The Mavs looked like the better team and the Lakers looked old and tired. I feel saddest for Phil, who should have gone out with one more ring.

I'm too lazy to look this up on ESPN.com or something...

Can anyone explain to me why the Lakers/Mavs and Bulls/Hawks series' are playing twice between games of the Thunder/Grizzlies & Heat/Celtics series'? I know it has to do with TV (read: money), but I don't really understand why they had to adjust like this. Just seems stupid.
