I usually just make my own compilations around this time of year, as most store-made compilations seem to have a lot of hack artists on them that I don't like. Anyway, here's my semi-complete list of decent holiday tunes. I was just wondering if I'm missing anything notable.

Aislers Set – Christmas Song
Badly Drawn Boy – Donna & Blitzen
Be Good Tanyas – Rudy
Belle And Sebastian – O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
Ben Folds – Bizarre Christmas Incident
Ben Folds – Lonely Christmas Eve
Ben Kweller – Rock of Ages
Better Than Ezra – Merry Christmas Eve
Bright Eyes – Blue Christmas
Cocteau Twins - Frosty The Snowman
Coldplay – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Cracker – Merry Christmas, Emily
Dandy Warhols – Little Drummer Boy
Daniel Johnston – Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer
Death Cab For Cutie – Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
Dismemberment Plan - This Christmas
Eels – Christmas Is Going To The Dogs
Eels – Everything’s Gonna Be Cool This Christmas
Fiona Apple – Frosty The Snowman
Flaming Lips – A Change At Christmas (Say It Isn't So)
Flaming Lips – Christmas At The Zoo
Fountains of Wayne – I Want An Alien For Christmas
Fountains of Wayne – The Man In The Santa Suit
Grandaddy – Alan Parsons In A Winter Wonderland
Guster – Donde Esta Santa Claus?
Ivy – Christmas Time Is Here
John Lennon – Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
Juliana Hatfield – Make It Home
Kinks – Father Christmas
Lisa Loeb – Jingle Bells
Liz Phair – Winter Wonderland
Low - Just Like Christmas
Marcy Playground – Keegan’s Christmas
Mew – She Came Home For Christmas
Odds – Kings of Orient (We Three Kings)
Pogues – Fairytale of New York
Polyphonic Spree – Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
Pretenders - 2000 Miles
Pretenders - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Ramones – Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight)
Raveonettes – The Christmas Song
Rilo Kiley – Xmas Cake
Ryan Adams – Hey Parker, It’s Christmas
Smashing Pumpkins – Christmastime
Sponge – Christmas
Teenage Fanclub – Christmas Eve
Tuuli – You Better Know By Now What I Want For Christmas
Weezer – Christmas Celebration
Weezer – The Christmas Song
White Stripes – Candy Cane Children
Young And Sexy – Santa Claus Likes Rich Kids Better

What's up with that new Walkmen tune? It's bizarre.

IMHO, most "modern" or "contemporary" Christmas music isn't great. I prefer the classics. Or at least, some innovative or rocking reworking of classics...

an exception:

Hawksley Workman - Three Generations

You have to have the meeting of two of the biggest mongers of the last 100 years: Bing and Bowie doing "Little Drummer Boy." I challenge anyone to watch this video and not cringe in horror.

alongdrive - judging by your mix, I would assume you are not into older Christmas music, whether it is "traditional" or "classic", or simply rockin'?

because I could make some kickass recommendations.....

PS are you making your mix available on slsk?

You're missing:
The Pretenders - 2000 Miles
David Bowie/Bing Crosby - Little Drummer Boy

And, I think XTC has a Christmas song, too. Can't remember the name of it, though.

"Christmas in El Paso" by Dash Rip Rock.

I'd love to have an "Indie-Christmas" to listen to over the holidays. Any chance of this being available for download?

Mostly I look to gather songs by artists I normally listen to outside of the Christmas season. I'm not sure why this is, but I guess I think it makes for a more interesting listening experience.

Currently, 75% of the songs I listed above are available on my SoulSeek. There's a few I've heard of but can't find for downloading anywhere.

8. Cocteau Twins ~ Frosty The Snowman
9. Flaming Lips ~ Christmas At The Zoo
10. The Waitresses ~ Christmas Wrapping
11. Yo La Tengo ~ It's Christmas Time
12. The Pogues ~ Fairytale of New York
13. Badly Drawn Boy ~ Donna & Blitzen
14. U2 ~ Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

I'm reapeating myself again, but the best Christmas song ever is Can's version of 'Silent Night'.

The Wonderful World of Joey "What Sweet Child O' Mine Is This?" - it interpolates the old carol "What Sweet Child Is This?" with the Guns'n'Roses tune in a groovy lounge act arrangement. Facking hilarious.

99% of Christmas music is pretty cringe worthy but I'll second Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses and I also enjoy Welcome Christmas by Love Spirals Downwards.

check out morecowbell.net for some indie xmas tunes.

i do like the classic songs of the season, but sometimes you just need a little something different.

These are some of my favorites, and I hate holidays and tradition.

Pansy Division :: "Homo Christmas"<--- Great for office parties
Clarence Carter :: "Backdoor Santa"
Cheech and Chong :: "Santa and his Old Lady"
Gayla Peevey :: "I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas"
The Royal Guardsmen :: "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" <---- Had this bitch on 8-track.
Robert Earl Keen :: "Happy Holidays Y'all"
Robert Earl Keen :: "Merry Christmas from the Family"
