I just bought this, sight unseen based solely on how much I liked their debut EP.

this Tiny Mix Tapes review gives you a good idea of what you'd be getting into.

It's catchy, it's metallic and your girlfriend may even like it.

i saw this band opening for billy talent and alexisonfire last year. i thought they sucked. so much to my suprise i hear the single off this album, and actually like it. but in my defense, given the fact that they only have a drummer and a bassist, and since they were an opening act, the sound was awful. as you could imagine, a band like this doesnt take much to turn from the band you know into stoner rock sludge if the sounds not right.

I haven't caught onto the hype of this band, but only cause I haven't heard them yet. So, they're pretty good then, eh, Stu? You seem to mention them a lot. Think it's for me?

I don't get how their only drums and bass. There's a lot more sound than that :-\

However, I do really enjoy the album.

i saw them live about a month ago and they were pretty great. the sound was a bit muddy but otherwise it was fine. the bassist plays some synths during a few of the songs too.

If I get around to posting it, I will. I don't have much patience.

And Ish, you'd probably like it. It's just loud and rawkus.

Are the vocals good, tho, Stu? That's always the factor that tips the scales for me. If there's too much ... pretension, I'm out. I saw a short special on them on MuchMusic today. Seemed borderline good. If only they didn't have that hair, I might be a little more open-minded.

I don't really know what they look like aside from the photo in the CD and the images on album covers, so I guess I have the luxury of not letting that affect my opinion of them, but here are some links to a couple of songs:

"Romantic Rights" which appears on You're a Woman, I'm a Machine

And the song that actually introduced them to me, back when they had the much better name, Death From Above. From the 2002 EP Heads Up - "Dead Womb"

"We're looking for wives, so tired of the sluts coming to us in the clubs with their cocaine"

I'm listening to it now for the first time (thanks Clever Cactus!) and so far so good. The vocalist sounds like someone whom I can't quite put my finger on right now. Its catchy and a little abrasive and I'm digging it.

i picked this up sometime last week and have digested it fully. i really like it, it's catchy, loud and fun. a rumpshaker or all proportions.
so count me in the "yes I like this band" (or at least this album) club.

And what if we don't like either?
