I've told this story before.

Went to my senior prom with a girl who had asked me. I can remember all the pre-prom stuff-getting ready, picking her up, arriving.

My next memory after that is being at an IHOP the next morning without my date and with a bunch of people who were at best acquaintances.

None of them could tell me how in the hell I ended up with them. None of them could tell me what became of my date.

She never spoke to me again, so the night remains a mystery.

So, yeah, I pretty much fucked up a nice girl's prom night. Nothing to be proud of.

Somebody must have slipped me something.

Steve

I went to 3 proms. They all pretty much blew. Music sucked and the people sucked worse.

Junior Prom -- My friends and I went to see a movie and did stupid giggly teen girl stuff.

Senior Prom -- My shy self sat at home, thinking there was no one worthy at school to go out with. All the cute boys had graduated already.

Went to 3 proms as well.

Senoir prom was the best. Went with a friend. Then ended up in our hotel bathroom, drunk, with a girl (and by girl I mean slut) that wanted me to pull her hair and some other tastless shit. Best prom EVER!!!

Didn't go. My friends went and had a lame time. I went to one of the best punk rock shows I've ever been to.

I won.

I was gonna crown chase's answer the winner, but then this one came along.

I think the only high school dance I attended was Homecoming my freshmen year, & that was because of a girl I liked. Other than that, it was never my bag.

I liked dances through junior high - even if it was because of sheer curiosity, everyone wants the dude in the wheelchair to have a good time.
High school got too cliquish for me, so I went to one homecoming and skipped everything else until the dance on graduation night, which was actually kinda fun.

As for the show; 300 people in a hall less than 1,000 square feet in mid-June with no air conditioning. It was all local punk, hardcore and death metal bands and I damn near got killed from the people moshing next to me but I had a smile on my face for days afterward. And I didn't have to drop $200 on a tux, limo, etc.

i went to 4.

jr. prom- all my friends were seniors, and went w/a good friend of that group. so much fun.

sr. prom- went w/my best friend, who ended up being my bf the night of prom. your typical teenybopper movie ending. it was awesome.

the other 2 were hell- but they weren't at my school, it was just as a favor for the guys since their dates flaked last minute.

junior year) i went with a good friend. of course, that was planned weeks in advance. by the time the prom came around, we were both kinda involved with other people. that was a little odd. and my stepmother hated my date's dress and her shoes, which were doc marten boots. (i have no idea why she wore them.) we listened to rocket from the crypt en route. my most vivid memory of the actual prom was discussing with a friend that day's trade of mike piazza to the mets.

senior year) i went two proms - mine and my ballroom dance partner's. mine was first and the pre-prom afternoon still ranks as a favorite story for many of my friends. now, way back in january of that year, lego had announced star wars legos and i'd ordered them immediately. unfortunately, they were back-ordered until july, but mine came on the afternoon of the prom. of course, i spent the whole afternoon building x-wings and tie fighters. my stepmother walked into the living room and shockingly asked, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" i looked down at the piles of legos surrounding me and said, "building." she alerted me of the time and told me that my date would be arriving in less than an hour.

i ran downtown and picked up the corsage and flowers, then came home and took a shower. my date arrived with her parents (they lived an hour away) while i was in the midst of dressing. i answered the door half-dressed and explained that i was running late because i'd been playing with legos all afternoon. she laughed and her parents looked confused. i got them drinks and they sat in the living room while i finished dressing. then i put the finishing touches on the x-wing and showed it off. i don't remember much about the actual prom. the after-party in some kid's barn was, um, a barnburner. and then my date and i went to my house. the next morning, i walked out in the kitchen and my date was having breakfast with my stepmother. it was then that i realized i'd left my fleet of lego ships in the bathtub. i apologized to her for the mess and she smiled a little uncomfortably. seriously, though, wouldn't you have played with the legos?

her prom was a total bust, except for me and her neighbor talking about the star wars legos, which he'd just also received. the after-party was pretty boss, though.

I was off-put by the idea of spending a gang of money and going with someone as 'just friends.'

So I went to afterparties and got, uh, inebriated.

I was dating a girl for only two of my high school dances. The rest were with friends/hook ups. Every one was fun and usually consisited of group dinner, appearance at the dance, a few dances, and then drunken shenanigans afterwards.

At my school there were 3 major dances. Homecoming, Sweetheart Dance, and Jr/Sr Prom. At each there are elected "King and Queens" of said dances. They are called these:

Homecoming: Homecoming King and Queen
Sweetheart: King and Queen of Hearts
Jr/Sr: Mr. and Ms. DHS (Dalton High School)

<---------Was King of Hearts my Sr. year.

I went to my Junior Prom with a group of people, but didn't go to my Senior Prom even though a girl asked me. I was going to be returning from a week long study trip to DC and was broke at the time I needed to rent a tux. I should have went to it in casual dress attire, but I decided to catch up on some sleep before partying.

Went Senior year; honestly, why wouldn't you?

Prom was fun, yawn.

Party/stayed afterwards at The Granada (the chateau marmont/chelsea hotel) of Atlanta; Great time. Get on the roof!

Matt Huggins was there.

this reminds me that a friend of mine wore a regular suit instead of renting a tux, but also brought along a croquet mallet. nobody asked because it just made sense for him. strange guy.

Aside from Dunwoody's story, this one wins. (If you have ever even heard of The Hug, you would know why, suckas!)

Only had senior prom, and it blew. A great looking girl who I'd been on and off with since the fourth (yes fourth)grade asked me. For a while we were back on but somewhere along the line I guess she decided it was off again, but failed to tell me. Guess she still needed a date and what the L, I at least had some money. When I picked her up it was obvious something was wrong since she decided not to spend money on a formal dress. I was looking pretty stupid already. Went to a steakhouse on the Plaza (KC's answer to swank) and she eat heartily (foreshadowing). At the actual prom I seldom saw her and most of her friends apologized for her. Guess I was the only one that didn't know this was waiting for me. Knew I should just came home when the photog asked if we were ready for a pic and she said no thanks, but of course I didn't.

I had rented a high dollar hotel room with another couple and even had my older sister buy me some champagne along with the other asst. booze. Right after getting into the room a giant bolt of lightning flashed directly outside the window of the room. God was telling me one last time to just go home and call it a night, but I refused to listen even though the thunder was deafening and hair on my head was still standing up. God does not suffer idiots it seems and decided I deserved whatever I got at that point. Within half an hour my date was gone for good, along with the champagne. Seems another school was having their prom in the same hotel and she hooked up with a BUNCH of those guys. As for my pathetic self, I remained the in the room, a third wheel to the couple that was there and tried to make myself as small as possible as I watched Dirty Harry movies on TV.

When she finally returned in the morning I said I'm leaving, she asked for a ride home and being the numbnut that I was I agreed. Pathetic.

Everyone loves a happy ending so I'll conclude that I saw her at our 20'th reunion. I honestly did not even recognize her as she was clinically and most morbidly obese. Fortuntely I ended up with a babe for a wife who at fifty is still very good looking. She couldn't believe that this was the same girl in the "prom story".

It would seem that God will even cut the idiot some slack sometimes.

I only went to one dance in high school, the winter one during my junior year. My date wore an awful purple dress (borrowed from her mom) to go with my awful JC Penny sport coat. She was sick, didn't smile or talk much the whole time, and ended up leaving early. I then went out for burritos with my friends.
