splash of soy milk.

i drank black for years but am far too impatient to wait for it to cool so i started splashing half and half but started to dislike what it did to my stomach. the next best thing that's always in our fridge is soy milk.

Man, I love soy milk. I can sit down and drink glass after glass of it. I prefer it to regular milk on cereal.

But I can't drink it in coffee. Something about that just doesn't work for me.

I'll admit it's an acquired taste.

Trader Joe's has organic soy cream. it's really good and doesn't leave your coffee looking cloudy and curd-like, plus no nasty belly like cow milk products.

I actually don't get any of the curdy stuff (we typically drink Publix organic light plain soymilk), but I do know what you're talking about.

Organic soy cream sounds delicious though and I'll probably pick some up anyways.

Even though we feed this vile hippie bs to our kid, and he guzzles it like i kill BLs, I can't drink it and certainly don't put it in coffee.

I like a touch of skim milk, though. Have heard almond milk is good, but soy tastes like a compost heap.

almond milk is way better than soy milk. plus i think most of the almond milk you can find in stores is organic, unlike soy milk, and if soy milk isn't organic, the milk has been separated from the oil using hexane which is similar to gasoline. i don't like drinking gasoline.

Drinking coffee black solves all these issues.

I just got me some of this:

Strong as hell and damn good.

(Yes, I drink decaf. When seizures are an imminent threat, you tend to adjust. And, really, the flavor - when not tasted side-by-side - there is no difference.)

$50 is too much. I've been eye-ballin' it up though. My wife got me one of those keurigs last Christmas, so that's kinda changed my morning ritual coffee-grinding ways significantly. Still, I dig the French press on a Saturday morning.

The good coffee roaster here closed down :(
I feel like Caine, wandering the earth in search of good roasted coffee.

Crop to Cup opened a shop in Brooklyn and I started buying their stuff. It's really good, and also fair trade-ish. Although I'm starting to think drinking coffee is giving me a constant low level of stomach discomfort.

Wish we had more like that around here. We had two primo roasters who knew what they were doing, and always were trying new techniques and blends. One shut down due to negligence (fire/smokindadoob), and the other couldn't financially continue. One of my wife's aunt and uncle have started doing some self-roasting, and the results were so-so. Anyone do this? Is it economically feasible, or is it a high cost/low yield venture just to say you roast?

I finally got some of that Ritual coffee outta SF (I got a Costa Rica blend) and while it tasted fine, just didn't have the bite that I like my coffee to have.

I have a friend up in Portland for the week, so I'm gonna ask her to bring some Stumptown back with her.

Some of the best coffee I had came from PDX. Courier coffee. The guy was a bike courier and roasted in his free time. I think I've hailed the guy a few times in various coffee threads.

Coffee of choice for 35+ years. I've yet to have a cup that tops it.

Todd, I'm a big fan of Cuvee too, but Black Cat will always be near and dear to my heart.

I used to to to the Intelligentsia store on Broadway not long after they first opened, when they still roasted all their coffee in the store there. And I remember getting just a plain old cup of joe, taking a sip, and thinking to myself, "There is no way in hell that a cup of coffee should taste this damn good."
It was like I heard the herald angels sing.

I haven't had a cup of coffee in over a month (was having some killer heartburn and zeroed in on the coffee as a major culprit); strange because I've been drinking it every morning since high school. Tea is filling in nicely and the heartburn is much improved.
